Presence of Malice
Statement of the Center for Media Freedom and Responsibility
Whether we’re talking about the Senate’s version or that of the House, by compelling editors to print what they may very well not want to, the right of reply bill will undermine the editorial prerogative of deciding what to air or print that’s at the core of the exercise of press freedom in the newsroom. Bayan’s statement on the dissolution of the GRP peace panel in talks with the MILF
The dissolution of the government peace panel in the talks with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front is an attempt at political appeasement at the expense of the peace process. While it appears to appease the opponents of the Memorandum of Agreement on Ancestral Domain (MOA-AD) and the critics of Gen. Hermogenes Esperon, the move also shuts the door to serious peace negotiations. The move is a dangerous double-bladed sword. READ MORE
